A New Christmas Ornament (or desktop piece)

We all knew it was coming, sooner or later: the Christmas ornament based on the roller coaster cars. The difference with this ornament, from the last version, is that this current design is the actual car model without actual bearings and ball joints. The formfactor and connections are identical to the previous posts about a new car coming down the pike.

tHE DESIGN FITS SANTA AND HIS HELPERS (MINIFIGURES NOT INCLUDED)

It’s nice to see something come together, finally. Now, the specifics of the seat and leading cap might change a little on the final designs to incorporate added weights and some theming. However, this little car is already available for purchase…but wait, there’s more!

You can even download the car model and build it yourself on any platform that reads STL files. Included in the download are instructions, hardware links for nuts and bolts, and part files in STL format.

Since making the products live for purchase, I’ve had a decent amount of requests for customizations. One in particular comes by way of the U.K., and coincidentally revolves around a ride I actually helped design and build: Wickerman.

Wickerman was the last full coaster I worked on at Great Coasters International, and to add some theming to these little “classic style” cars was a pleasure. But, this got me thinking. I think the option of adding different theming and more elaborate designs could be done. The basic platform of the car and chassis work, and do in-fact roll…more to come on that…but adding appropriate theming will be a nice touch.

The Wickerman themed car will be live for purchase and download soon!
